Fall is the perfect time to enjoy in-season greens. And, when combined with garlic and a touch of spice - who can resist such a beautiful side dish?
1.5 pounds chopped swiss chard (remove large stems)
3 cups chopped tomatoes
4 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 cup thinly sliced shallots (optional)
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper
1 Combine tomatoes, garlic, red pepper and shallots in a large saucepan and cook over medium heat for 3-5 minutes or until tomatoes are soft.
2 Add Swiss Chard, cover and simmer, stirring frequently until the greens are tender. Add a little water as necessary during cooking to add moisture.
