Skip the canned refried beans and make your own! You'll save money, cut back on salt and taste the wonderful medley of spices.
Ingredients:
2 cups cooked black or pinto beans
Juice of 1 lime
3 garlic cloves
½ cup chopped red onion
Hot pepper sauce to taste
1 tsp cumin
Directions:
1 Prepare beans ahead of time by following package directions.
2 Process all ingredients until desired consistency. Serve warm as a low-fat dip or use in tostadas or burritos.
3 Yield: about 2 cups. Serving Size: 1/2 cup.
