I substituted the salt for chicken boulion in the rice water. I used splenda instead of sugar, and I added 1 tablespoon of minced fresh ginger. Chopped fresh orange slices add nice moisture to this dish. You can also extend this recipe without breaking the bank by adding cooked orzo.
