The More Matters initiative sponsored by the Produce for Better Health Foundation promotes meeting the 4-5 cups of fruits and vegetables recommended by the USDA MyPyramid (based on 2,000 calorie diet). With September brings Fruits and Vegetables – More Matters Month – so, it couldn’t be a more perfect time to add more “color” to your diet!

Fruits and veggies do matter – did you know that 90% of children and adults do not meet the recommended fruit and vegetable intake? Getting more fruits and vegetables in your diet IS important – they help prevent disease and manage weight. 4-5 cups may sound like a lot, but we’ve put together practical tips and an example of just how easy it can be!

Add More to Your Daily Routine:
•Top morning cereal with fresh or frozen fruit
•Add shredded carrots or zucchini to turkey burgers
•Add cucumbers or red bell peppers to your sandwich
•Add extra vegetables to canned soup
•Try a tostada instead of a burrito
