Woman of all ages can improve the way they look by simply eating the right foods. Diet plays a huge role in beauty and can affect your appearance in several different ways. Here are a few areas where you may notice dramatic changes with the right diet.

Skin Quality

Certain foods are known to improve skin quality and are a great natural alternative to invasive cosmetic procedures. According to Health.com, foods that are high in antioxidants, such as blueberries and dark green vegetables, can prevent wrinkles and help you look younger. Preventing acne breakouts is also possible by cutting down on the amount of pasta, bread and other carbohydrate-rich foods that you eat and increasing your protein intake. Foods that are high in fat can stimulate the production of free radicals, which may cause the skin to age prematurely. Fish and flaxseed oil are excellent sources of omega-3 fatty acids, and these fatty acids can keep the skin hydrated naturally. Eating alkaline-forming foods, such as raw tomatoes and lemons, can help repair skin damage by increasing the skin’s blood supply.

Body Shape

You already know that maintaining a good diet is important for your health, but you can also improve the way you look by making some modifications to your meals. If you’re overweight, cutting out foods that are high in calories, sugar and saturated fats is a great way to start working toward a slimmer, more attractive figure. You can stay fuller for longer and avoid eating foods that cause excessive weight gain by eating more celery, whole grains and other food sources that are rich in fiber. Tuna, salmon and other types of fish are also low in calories and can help you stay fuller for longer periods of time. To develop greater muscle tone, try consuming more high-protein edibles like eggs, turkey breast and chicken.

Teeth Appearance

Even the appearance of your teeth can be impacted by the foods you eat. Consuming more dairy products or taking calcium supplements can help strengthen your teeth and keep them looking white and healthy. Highly pigmented foods are known to leave teeth stains and may cause your teeth to turn a shade of yellow. Pasta sauce, curry and balsamic vinegar are just a few of the culprits that are known to cause teeth staining. Your teeth may also become stained by drinking a lot of coffee and soda. If you end up getting teeth stains that brushing alone can’t eliminate, then you should visit a dentist who can provide teeth whitening in Livermore, CA or wherever is more local to you.

Allergic Reactions

Some of the foods that you eat may cause allergic reactions that can affect the way you look. You might be allergic to certain foods without even realizing it because your negative reactions are more subtle. Food allergies have been linked to problems like acne and the development of dark circles around the eyes. Some allergic reactions also lead to bloating, which can make you look heavier and affect your body’s symmetry. If food allergies cause frequent headaches, you may notice that you have trouble keeping your eyes fully open and appear to be more tired. Peanuts, seafood and soy products are known to cause rashes in some people. If you suspect that you have a food allergy, you can try cutting out a particular food for a while to see how you respond or visit a doctor for testing.

Diet and beauty are connected in more ways than you may have realized. By watching what you eat and eliminating the foods that take away from your true beauty, you can change your appearance for the better.
