Last night I had an awesome dinner planned. A faux crab bisque with some shrimp en papilloutes. Sadly, I didn't get to the shrimp because the bisque was so labor intensive. When Puck mentioned it was a bit labor intensive, he wasn't kidding! For those who are curious as to why I would choose faux crab instead of the real deal, that is an interesting question. For the past few years, we've believed that my wife had a shellfish allergy. Since then, we have found out that she has a gluten sensitivity, and after a couple of gluten-free shellfish dishes, we suspect that she didn't have a true shell fish allergy, but a sensitivity to the pasta and bread the shellfish usually sits on. Regardless, we are being careful both survived the faux bisque without incident. And for those of you who don't think that the bisque will fit with your diet plans, the only truly bad ingredient is heavy cream, which since you reduce the cream in a sauce pot prior to adding it in, I suspect that you could substitute either half-half or light cream. Sure, the recipe calls for some cognac and white wine, but the booze cooks off, the rest is just some crab and veggies. Let me know if you'd all like the recipe. A little indulgence never hurt anyone...
My knees hurt today. I've done great with 30min bike sessions the past three days, but I think I need to take a break. My plan is some walks with the dog and some yoga sessions. Hopefully that'll help ease my aching knees...
