A summer spent out in the sun or a winter spent in the dry, cold air could wreak havoc on your skin. Dehydration, an inadequate diet, and certain medical issues could also contribute to skin that is dull, dry, or itchy. Use these four strategies to successfully make your skin healthier with diet and supplements.

Drink Plenty of Water

Hydrating yourself from the inside out helps to keep your skin from becoming dry and cracked. Be sure to drink enough water each day so that your urine is nearly colorless. Each person requires a different amount of water. On days that you are active, spend time outdoors, or on hot days, you may need to drink more water in order to be well-hydrated.

If you do not get enough vitamins through your diet, take supplements of antioxidants. You could buy individual supplements such as vitamin C drops or tablets. Vitamin E comes in capsule or liquid form that can be taken orally or applied directly to problem spots on your skin. Take care not to consume too much of a vitamin, because mega doses of a vitamin could be harmful to your health.

It will take your skin some time to respond to these changes. Be patient and take as good care of yourself as possible. When you do spend time outdoors, remember to apply sunscreen to all of the skin that will be exposed. Wearing a moisturizer and sunscreen could help to protect your skin from damage.
