Hi, I’m Mindle, a 44-year-old, 223-pound woman in the Boulder/Denver, Colorado area. I’ve been large my entire life and have been on diets off and on a lot of it. Never been on any “named” diets or diet pills, just lower calories and exercising. Usually the calories have been lower than is healthy (had a doctor put me on an 800-cal diet when I was ten, for instance), and/or the exercise was way more than I could keep up with, but now I am working toward the long term, the slow and sure. You see, I tend to drop weight pretty quickly when I put my mind to it, and pack it back on even faster when I don’t. Because I’m a Fast Pacer, I get distracted from my goals when life gets hectic, and start skipping workouts and eating unhealthy things. And because I’m something of an extremist ... lets’ just say, “when she was good, she was very, very good. When she was bad, she was horrid!”
My health is a huge issue for me right now. Blood pressure and blood sugar have been up, and my doctor brought up the issue of diet drugs and surgery to keep me from slipping into diabetes and/or a heart attack.
So this Challenge is my time to find the happy medium, to plot a course to where I need to be for the rest of my life (and keep my doctor from introducing such scary topics!). And my specific goals for this Challenge are:
Exercise 7 days per week, at least 30 minutes each day
• Track food intake, exercise, and energy levels at least 5 days a week
• Eat veggie(s) or fruit at every lunch and dinner
• Decide in advance what I will eat for dinner at least 4 days a week
• Adjust the balance of my life so that taking care of myself keeps constant
• And lose at least 15 pounds by the end of the Challenge!
Next time ... Planning my Strategy for World, er, Weight Domination! Mwa-ha-ha-ha! (cue diabolical music and fade)
