I just learned a bit of cool data. According to the American Heart Association, "One hour of walking = Two more hours of life! Research shows that for every hour of regular exercise, you can increase your life expectancy by two hours. That's a great return on investment."

It's one thing to think, "exercise will help me live longer." It's another to get specific about it. There's a lot you can do in two hours. You can talk with loved ones, play with a cat and still have time to calm it down and pet it, watch a great movie, listen to 2+ cds (or whatever we will be listening to by that time), go for a hike...

Heck, after the last couple of days I've had, two hours of SLEEP sounds really good!

Thanks for the great information! Losing weight for health is so much more important than losing it to get slimmer.

Fortunetly with exercise you can get to enjoy quality and quantity of life ;)

Yep, I'm all for quality and quantity of life!

I just wish it was easier to keep health as a goal rather than slimness! It takes a lot of awareness to work against these things:

1. The ego wants the compliments.
2. Unless you are going to the doctor regularly, you can't see your cholesterol, blood sugar, and blood pressure go down.
3. Most models these days are role models because they are skinny rather than healthy and even if you consciously rebel against this, advertisers keep that value in your face.
4. And it's a lot easier to notice when clothing fits better than when it is easier to go up some stairs.

I'm sure there are more, but those are the ones coming to mind right now.
