The Walt Disney Company has announced that they'll be rolling out new standards when it comes to food advertising in/on several of their programming outlets.

According to a press release from the White House and First Lady Michelle Obama, who teamed up with Disney to make the ground-breaking announcement, "all food and beverage products advertised, sponsored, or promoted on Disney Channel, Disney XD, Disney Junior, Radio Disney, and Disney-owned online destinations oriented to families with younger children will be required by 2015 to meet Disney's nutrition guidelines."

Those nutrition guidelines meet federal guidelines - emphasizing the consumption of fruits and vegetables, while sticking to a healthy calorie level and limiting the consumption of salty, fatty, sugary foods.

Michelle Obama's Let's Move! campaign aims to improve the health of America's youth. Their tagline is "America's Move to Raise a Healthier Generation of Kids" - which Diet.com is behind 100%!

The announcement from the Walt Disney Company is groundbreaking in that they are the first major media company to apply new food quality standards to their programming, when it comes to family and kid-focused programs.
