Eating healthy doesn’t always have to involve eating bland and boring foods. There are many healthy foods and food preparation methods that will add flavor to your diet and will make you want to continue eating right. Here are five great ways to eat healthier without compromising on taste.

Add Some Spice
There are many spices and seasonings that can be used in place of salt and other less healthy additives. Sprinkling paprika or chili powder on some of your foods is a great way to add more spice to your meals. Cinnamon is a better alternative to sugar and other unhealthy sweeteners and can be sprinkled on fruit, toast and oatmeal. Other healthy seasonings include turmeric, ginger and cayenne pepper.

Don’t Forget Dessert
You can still eat desserts that are both delicious and nutritious. Fudge brownies made with coconut sugar and protein powder from this wholefood protein company are great to eat in moderation and can satisfy your sweet tooth. Vanilla berry crepes also make great desserts that won’t add a lot of extra fat or calories to your diet. The occasional blueberry cookie dough brownie can be savored as well.

Ditch Frying
Frying foods in oils often decreases their nutritional value and usual requires the use of lard, butter or fattening oils. Instead of frying, consider baking, roasting or steaming your meals. These cooking methods use dry heat and don’t require as much added fat to prepare foods. Mouthwatering roasts, fish and seasoned vegetables are just some of the edibles that can be prepared with these methods.

Pack in the Protein
Protein can be found in many foods that taste great and are considered good to eat as part of a balanced diet. Eating more protein can also make you feel fuller for longer periods and may eliminate your cravings for unhealthy snacks. Eggs, Greek yogurt and lean meats are protein-rich foods that are also good for your body. You can also try adding some protein powder from to fruit smoothies for a satisfying treat.

Prepare Favorite Restaurant Meals at Home
You can try creating some of your favorite restaurant foods at home. This will allow you to make healthier meals that include less sodium, fats and other unhealthy ingredients while still giving you the taste that you crave. There are many “fakeaway” recipes online that can be followed to create imitations of many takeaway food items from popular restaurants.

You can still enjoy the pleasures of delicious meals if you incorporate the right healthy foods and preparation methods into your routine. By finding ways to make eating healthy taste better, you’ll have an easier time sticking to a nutritious meal plan for life.
