Make Sure Your Calorie Count Is Right

When people think of eating balanced meals, they often think it means removing all the carbs or calories from their foods. After all, the less you eat, the less extra fat you will store on your body. However, if you are already thin, then you can take this to the extreme.

If this sounds familiar, you can explore treatment options for eating disorders. Either way, make sure to get enough calories and carbs so your body has energy to burn. Otherwise, you are depriving it of the fuel source it needs to function correctly.

Get Plenty of Dense, Green Veggies

Sometimes you have a nice salad. You might throw some tomatoes, onions, dressing, and other toppings on it. It feels good to eat. However, you probably don’t do this enough. Furthermore, most people eat iceburg lettuce. This has almost no nutritional value. Real vegetables are broccoli, spinach, kale, and other dense, green veggies. Eat more of these instead of the ‘fool’s gold’ of iceburg.

Portion and Cook Them in Advance

If it’s the middle of the day, you are going to be hard pressed to have the time and energy to prepare a fresh, healthy meal. This is why it’s smart to go ahead and cook your food in advance. Then, you can portion out lunches for each day of the week. Try making one day a week, like Sunday, your cooking day.

Give Yourself a Cheat Day

Unless you have marine-like discipline, you are not likely to avoid any and all sweets, carbs, or other indulgences for the rest of your life. Instead, you should plan on giving yourself some days, or at least one, where you can eat anything you want.

Your diet and exercise routine are crucial for your health. However, they also have a huge effect on your energy levels and feeling your best.
