Drinking at least 40 ounces of water per day is one of the easiest ways to improve your overall health. Chronic dehydration has been attributed to a variety of serious health complications including gum disease, tooth decay, high blood pressure, and kidney failure. If you are having a difficult time drinking enough water, then take a look at these four creative tips for staying hydrated.

Keep Water Next to Your Bed

Everyone should try to start off their mornings by drinking a large glass of water before doing anything else. We lose quite a bit of water while we are sleeping, and you actually wake up dehydrated most mornings. Keeping a glass of water near your bed will allow you to immediately rehydrate yourself and start the day off right. Drinking water in the mornings will also fire up your metabolism, suppress your appetite, and increase blood flow to the brain.

Set Reminders

Most of us carry a smartphone at all times, and that makes it the perfect tool for tracking how much water you are drinking. After you determine how many glasses you should have per day, you can then set reminders at specific intervals. Once the alarm goes off, you will then need to stop what you are doing and go get a glass of water. As an alternative to setting reminders on your phone, you can put timestamps on a jug of water to track how much you are drinking.

Flavor It

One of the easiest ways to make your water more exciting is to spruce it up with flavored syrup, such as Monin. There are dozens of different flavors for water ranging from lemon to mint: which flavor you choose just really depends on what your taste buds like. You can put a few drops of syrup in a jug of water and place it in your fridge to sip it throughout the day. For those who are out of the home, small flavor squirters can be stored away in a backpack or purse.

Try Eating Your Water

Many people are surprised to hear that they can actually hydrate themselves by eating certain foods. Fruits and vegetables are particularly good for those who want to drink more water, and they make the perfect midday snack. Cucumbers, bell peppers, strawberries, and lettuce are all excellent options for those who feel like they are not thoroughly hydrated.

Drinking more water is not only going to make you healthier, but it is also going to improve your energy levels and leave you feeling better than ever. Those who still feel like they are not drinking enough water should consider reducing their intake of diuretics such as caffeine, sodium, and sugar.

There are several blogs out there contradicting the role water plays in the body. I would direct to this website for better clarification. I take 5 glasses of water and it helps alot. The frequent visits to the loo are a reaction to the rise in water taken in the body.
