Sticking to a diet is a great way to improve your overall health, but you could end up with a nutritional deficiency if you aren’t careful. Many of the most popular diets are extremely strict, and you need to be absolutely sure that you are getting all of the vitamins and minerals that your body needs.

Mix Up Your Veggies


The vast majority of diets allow you to eat a wide variety of vegetables, and you should try to eat different produce every single day. Sticking to the same few vegetables might result in weight loss, but you probably won’t get a good mix of nutrients. In addition to leafy greens, you should also eat brightly colored vegetables. That type of produce contains a few important nutrients including vitamin C, potassium, and carotenoids.

Have a Protein Shake for Breakfast


Fresh produce is going to be a great foundation for your diet, but you need to eat plenty of protein as well. If you are struggling to get enough protein, then you might want to supplement your diet with high-quality protein shakes made from hemp or another natural substance. The best hemp protein powder is going to contain all of the amino acids that your body requires, and those shakes will keep you full for long periods of time.

Take High-Quality Supplements


Even though most of your vitamins and minerals should come from the foods that you eat, you might want to think about taking a multivitamin as well. Having one or two multivitamins every day will greatly reduce your risk of developing a deficiency, and those pills can be found at most grocery stores and pharmacies. Before you choose a multivitamin, you must read the ingredient list to see if the pills contain any unwanted additives or fillers.

Spend Time Outdoors


Many people don’t realize that the best way to get vitamin D is to spend a few minutes out in the sun every day. UV rays trigger the production of vitamin D in your body, and that nutrient helps you absorb many different vitamins and minerals. You could follow a diverse and nutritious diet and still develop a deficiency if your body isn’t producing enough vitamin D.

If you feel like you might have some type of deficiency, then you should schedule a blood test. Catching and treating a nutritional deficiency early on will allow you to avoid a variety of long-term side effects that could wreak havoc on your health.
