I joined diet.com because I really need some support - right now I live with my fiance and future FIL and neither one is serious about losing weight - my fiance's gained 30lbs in the last year and I've gained 15 - I really want to lose this, I want us both to lose - but my FIL doesn't seem to care no matter how many times we've asked him to stop loading the house up with sweets and snacks - we've tried throwing it all out and getting healthy stuff and he ran right to the store and got more -

Doing away with temptation in the house isn't working, and all my fiance's doing is complaining about it - I want to take action and take control of my diet even when there's the opportunity to cheat all around - what are some tips you've had for overcoming temptation? I'm a total junk food junkie - I love chips, ice cream, chocolate - you name it - has anyone found some fun, safe alternatives to junk that don't make you feel like you're eating rabbit food?

Hey there,
First of all, good for you for WANTING to make a positive change. That's a huge and important first step!

It sounds like you're pretty frustrated with the lack of support you're getting from your "roommates" Wink Yes, it would be easier if you lived with two super health-conscious and active guys - but that doesn't mean that becoming healthier YOURSELF isn't impossible under these circumstances. I can tell that you already know that, by the sheer fact that you're even reaching out to Diet.com and its community for some advice! Like I said, good for you!

The good news is that while you can't necessarily change other people, you can change yourself. And there's a ton that you can do to make your life easier - and healthier!

There are a bunch of sets of tips in our "Tips" section (under MORE up there ^^ in our top navigation) that I think will help you out.

Here are a few:

Also, take a look at our Diet.com Recipes. There, you can search for recipes by "meal" - so just look for our "Snacks" section, for some healthy ideas on tasty snack foods.

I'm glad you also started a blog today because I think you'll find that our blogging community is incredibly supportive and encouraging. I hope that it helps you feel more supported, even if you don't feel supported at home right now Smile

All the best,
CSL-Bailey
Wink

Thank you - these tips were great! I'm forging ahead and (so far) doing a great job at refusing junk and opting for healthier stuff - also trying to lead by example! Thanks for your support!
