Weight Loss Challenge Tips for a Slim Summer

The new Slim Summer Weight Loss Challenge is starting June 25th! Are you ready? Like the Spring Ahead! Challenge, the new challenge will last eight weeks, ending August 20th. That’s enough time for you to lose those extra pounds and feel healthy and energized all summer. Today’s edition of my podcast will focus on five practical tips and reminders you should use when starting the new Slim Summer Weight Loss Challenge!

First, set your goals, write them down on paper, and get ready to stick to them. Make sure you’ve created realistic goals that challenge you yet are still achievable. Create a timeline with deadlines and mini-goals to keep you on track. Why not set weekly goals to coincide with each of the 8 weeks of the challenge? As I mentioned, write your goals down on paper and paste copies of them around your house in frequently-viewed areas- This way, you remind yourself of what you want to accomplish daily. Never lose sight of your goals.

Plan your meals out one week at a time to keep in control of the amount of calories you consume every day. If you have a plan, you’re less likely to fill up on snacks and extra calories, and less likely to order calorie crazy take-out or delivery. Make a grocery list to avoid last minute shopping and impulse purchases of those tempting high-fat, high-sugar treats.

Get those comfort foods out of the house! Having around those unhealthier food options just means you’re more likely to eat them, and more likely to consume too many calories and fat. Chose a day before the Challenge begins and go through your kitchen, replacing unhealthy items with healthier, great tasting alternatives. Prepare snacks in advance like sliced apples and cheese, carrot sticks, or celery and peanut butter. For those treats you absolutely won’t get rid of, try putting them in single-sized servings ahead of time to avoid overindulging in them.

Remember to reward yourself each week of the challenge when you accomplish your mini goals. Treat yourself to a new piece of clothing or a night out with friends when you reach one of your weight loss goals! By rewarding yourself, you’ll stay motivated and encouraged to keep moving throughout the whole Challenge.
