Look Your Best With Breakfast!
Welcome to diet and fitness podcast, a free audio podcast sponsored by

you the skinny on the latest diet, fitness health tips and news.
I’m sure you’ve heard this before: “Breakfast is the most important meal
of the day.” Skipping breakfast anyway? We’ve all got our reasons. Maybe
you don’t have enough time in the morning. Maybe you want to lose weight.
Maybe you’re just not hungry at the moment! Whatever your reason, I urge
you to give Breakfast another chance!
There are a lot of benefits to breakfast that you might not be aware of.
For instance, eating breakfast in the morning will actually help you lose
weight. A light meal in the morning will get your metabolism up and
running early so you burn more calories during the day. Plus, your body
needs that energy from food in the morning after having just returned from
a (hopefully) long night of sleep. If you’re heading into a full day of
work or school, breakfast will make you more alert!
With these benefits in mind, it’s important to eat the right foods in the
morning so you start your day off feeling healthy and energized. Here are
five easy and nutritious breakfast ideas to consider!
First, nothing beats a classic bowl of oatmeal. I’m not talking about
those instant oatmeal packets with added sugar and flavors, but real 100%
natural whole oats. Low in fat and high in fiber, oatmeal is packed with
health benefits. Not only do oats contain a lot of nutrients, but the
fiber in oatmeal also helps lower cholesterol! Oatmeal might not be so
exciting on its own, but add a few golden raisins and a splash of milk or
even some Vanilla flavored Soy Milk, and you’ll never want to miss
breakfast again.
Here’s another breakfast idea. Learn to enjoy your morning again with a
cup of nonfat yogurt topped with some fresh berries like raspberries or
blueberries. The yogurt provides a nice amount of calcium for your bones,
and the berries are naturally sweet while providing you with nutrients
like Vitamin C. Sprinkle a few walnuts or almond shavings for some added
protein! This breakfast is also easy when you’re on the go. Just put it in
a plastic container or even a Ziploc bag and head out the door.
As long as we’re talking about yogurt and fruit, consider a fruit smoothie
for breakfast! If you have a blender, you’re all set. Just toss some ice,
nonfat yogurt, a banana, and some berries in and blend for a bit. A fruit
smoothie paired with a piece of whole wheat toast is a great way to start
your day.
Though it takes a little more time, having an omelet in the morning is
definitely worth the effort. Eggs are full of protein and contain no
carbs… not to mention they’re absolutely delicious! If cholesterol is
worrying you, try having an egg white omelet! Spice it up with some diced
tomatoes, scallions and low-fat cheese, along with whatever other veggies
you may have around. Combine this with a glass of real Orange Juice rich
in Vitamin C for a great morning meal.
If you’re not up for cooking in the morning, that’s ok! Try switching to
whole grain cereals low in sugar like Cheerios or Amaranth Flakes and add
fresh berries or dried cranberries for sweetness instead. If you love
waffles toasted in the morning, how about using whole grain waffles with
peanut butter or fresh jam instead of syrup!
With these suggestions in mind, I hope I’ve convinced you to reconsider
breakfast! Give yourself a little extra time in the morning if you can and
treat yourself with a healthy little meal to start off the day. If you’re
already a breakfast lover, I hope you enjoy any of these easy meal ideas
next time the sun rises! I don’t know about all of you, but I am really
looking forward to tomorrow!
