Don’t Let Exercise Weigh You Down!
Welcome to diet and fitness podcast, a free audio podcast sponsored by diet.com. This is your fit, fun and fabulous host, Lady Diet ready to give you the skinny on diet, fitness, health tips and news.
Many of us go to the gym to lose weight, to get smaller, to feel less guilty… basically we go into the situation looking down. From my experience it isn’t possible to see the bright side when you aren’t looking up. Exercising has so much to offer and you have so much to gain from it. That’s right, I said gain!
Your brain controls your body so if you enter the gym feeling excited and energized, chances are that your body is going to feel motivated to work harder. Think about how you feel when you exercise with music. Your body responds to the way music makes you feel mentally, giving you that extra burst of energy to workout full throttle. The goal is to think positive and get that feeling of power and excitement before you even enter the gym doors.
Here are five ways to help you find the sunny side of the gym:
1) Getting fit helps fight aging. You may only be 30, but by exercising now you may be saving yourself some doctor visits in a few years. Building muscle helps fight off osteoporosis and cardio workouts will keep your heart healthy in the long run. Now, just think, you are no longer exercising for your body now, you are getting fit for your future!
2) Exercising can fight off your stress. Your body releases endorphins while exercising. This is why you may feel more relaxed after a good workout. Forget that glass of wine or that bubble bath, nothing will make your stress go away faster than a great workout!
3) Exercising keeps you focused. Forget drinking coffee start your day with some cardio! After a morning workout, you will be ready to take on a full day of work. After all, if you can commit to waking up extra early for a workout, there is nothing you can’t do!
4) If you are a parent exercise lets you keep up with the kids! Not only does cardio and weight training help burn calories and fat, it also lets you run around longer and lift your kids onto the swings. Also, if you are a young professional, exercise can help keep you alert, competitive and confident in the workplace.
5) Your workout can inspire others. I was at the gym once and the lady on the treadmill next to me said “I only push myself because I am trying to keep up with you”. Not only did this make me workout harder, it made me feel proud that my body’s strength motivated someone to work harder.
Once you start to exercise for reasons beyond burning fat and calories, you can finally start to lose by seeing how much you have gained!
