How to Control Your Portion Sizes
Welcome to diet and fitness podcast, a free audio

and fabulous host, Lady Diet ready to give you the
skinny on diet, fitness, health tips and
news.
I am sure growing up, many of us were not taught to
portion control, instead we were asked to finish
all the food on our plate even when we were full.
Those eating behaviors that we developed as children
are often the hardest to overcome. Now as adults we
often eat too much too fast and may not realize how
many calories we are consuming, until we start to
feel sick from being too full
According to Dr. Robert Kushner, Medical Director of
Diet.com, here are five simple things you can do to
help control your portions:
-5 seconds before you start your meal, remind
yourself to eat slowly and enjoy your food.
-5 minutes into your meal put down your fork and sit
back away from the table. Then ask yourself if you
are full. If so, stop eating even if there is food
left on your plate.
-Picture a plate divided into three, with two small
sections and one large section. Put your vegetables
in the large section and divide your meat and starch
into the two smaller ones.
-When you eat out, portions tend to be larger. Eat
half your meal and than have the rest wrapped up to
take home with you. You can get two dinners for the
price of one!
-Avoid appetizers and alcoholic drinks that fill you
up with empty calories before your meal.
So there you have it. Easy to follow tips to downsize
your portions and increase your chances for
successful weight loss.
