Welcome to Diet and Fitness Podcast, a free audio podcast sponsored by
Diet.com. This is your fit, fun, and fabulous host, Lady Diet, ready to give
you the skinny on the latest diet fitness health tips and news.
Let’s face it – not everyone has time to prepare every single meal.
Sometimes we’re faced with a tough decision: eat fast food or don’t eat
anything at all! And since Diet.com doesn’t promote fasting or skipping
meals, we’ll dish out our healthiest five ways to eat better on the run:
5. Treat yourself to wheat. Whether you’re grabbing a burger, a sub,
or a pizza, ask for it to be served on whole wheat bread, roll or dough.
Thankfully, the world of fast food has embraced whole wheat. When it’s an
option, always choose wheat over white!
4. Super size for super thighs. If you’re a fan of excess fat, then
by all means go ahead and order the Quadruple Quarter-Pounder with Gobs of
Cheese and Super Size fries. But if you’re trying to be healthy while eating
conveniently, you should stick to small serving sizes. “Go big or go home”
should never apply to your fast food meals…or your butt!
3. Fountain soda is NOT the fountain of youth. In fact, it’s more
like a fountain of rotting teeth, excess sugar and empty calories. You get
the point. Go for water instead!
2. Opt for grilled. Fried food may smell terrific, but it never
feels terrific once you’ve consumed it. Order your McDonald’s chicken
sandwich grilled, rather than fried or battered, and save yourself a stomach
ache (and a diet catastrophe).
1. Nutrition on the Go. And the number one way to enjoy your fast
food without tossing your diet to the sharks is to use Diet.com’s brand new
Nutrition on the Go cell phone feature! You put your phone in text message
mode, type in the restaurant name and the menu item you need help with, then
send that info to DIET1 (34381). In a flash you receive a text with
the nutritional information you requested. It takes the guessing out of
eating out!
Not every trip to a fast food place for some convenient dining has to end in
diet trauma. When you can’t avoid fast food, you can still eat easy knowing
that options are available for you to make the healthiest choice. Keep these
tips in mind and you make your on-the-go meals as nutritious as possible!
