Welcome to Diet and Fitness Radio, a podcast brought to you by Diet.com. This is your Diet Diva, Lady Diet, reporting live from sunny Hollywood, CA. Today I’ll be dishing out some celebrity diet and fitness straight from Tinsel Town.
Let’s start with Mariah Carey. Her new, svelte body has been all over the magazine covers. Turns out that Mariah has been addicted to workouts in the pool; aqua aerobics burn serious calories and help achieve a long and lean look. Mariah also has admitted she doesn’t own a scale. How’s that for the biggest diva around? Mariah told a Jay Leno audience, "Well here's the deal. Muscle weighs more than fat, so why torture yourself with a scale? ... If your clothes fit you better, then you know you lost some weight." Mariah has also been following a “morsel diet,” which involves eating very small portions of a variety of food throughout the day.
Janet Jackson, whose stunning transformation has everybody wondering how she got that rock-hard bod, followed a portion-controlled meal delivery program from FreshDining, a gourmet service based out of Los Angeles. Using this healthy food service combined with regular exercise sessions with her personal trainer allowed the pop superstar to drop a miraculous 60 pounds in 4 months.
After having baby girl Violet 5 months ago, Jennifer Garner has been following a post-baby diet that is all about portion control. Courtesy of People magazine, here is a run down of a typical daily meal plan for Mrs. Affleck: For breakfast, 1 cup Kashi cereal with ˝ cup 1% milk and 1 cup fresh blueberries. Mid-morning snack? Luna bar (try chocolate peppermint stick… it is seriously the best thing I’ve ever tried). For lunch, Jen eats a 4 ounce turkey burger with lettuce, pickle, tomato and onion and a mixed green salad w/ no dressing. Mid-afternoon snack? An apple and string cheese. Dinner? Sushi and steamed edamame, and for dessert an almond biscotti.
After battling bulimia for 5 years, our favorite American Idol runner-up Ms. Katharine McPhee now has a healthy relationship with food. When she auditioned for American Idol her disorder was so out of control that she was throwing up seven times a day. But her successful American Idol audition made her realize her vocal chords, and long-term health, were in serious jeopardy. So she admitted herself to a clinic and got the help she needed to kick bulimia to the curb. Katharine eats intuitively now and finally feels comfortable in her own skin. Congratulations, Katharine!
