4 Holiday Travel Fitness Tips
Welcome to Diet and Fitness Podcast, a free audio podcast
sponsored by Diet.com. This is your fit, fun, and fabulous
host, Lady Diet, ready to give you the skinny on the latest
diet fitness health tips and news.
Many of us are taking to the roads and into the sky in the
coming weeks to visit family and friends. You know what that
means, plenty of food and plenty of time away from your home
gym! Worried that the Holidays will set you back on your
fitness routine? Here are four easy tips to taking your fitness
on the road with you!
1) First, pack some compact fitness gear in your suitcase – a
little goes a long way! Try an inflatable stability ball or
elastic resistance bands. Wherever you’re going, you’ll be able
to work your abs and tone your upper and lower muscles!
2) Improvise fitness-wise with your new surroundings – canned
foods make great free weights, or even a frozen turkey, which
can range from 10 to 30 pounds! Hold your weights while doing
squats and lunges in your room, or do bicep curls to build your
upper body strength.
3) Volunteer to help your host around the house. – whether it’s
cooking, cleaning or carrying in groceries in preparation for
the big dinner, regular activities are great ways to sneak in
extra exercise and make your family happy at the same time.
4) Tell your host ahead of time your plan to stay on track,
diet and fitness wise. Other people can often unknowingly
sabotage your diet with offers of all sorts of treats during
the Holidays. Suggest ways to be active together like taking a
walk after dinner, or going cross-country skiing or ice
skating.
Staying in shape while traveling away from home can be
challenging, indeed. Remember that it’s OK to take a break from
your usual fitness routine and give your body a well-deserved
rest. Staying active during the holidays and being conscious of
what you eat will put you well on your way toward building a
healthy lifestyle!
