| "Organic" doesn't always mean "good for you." Some organic breads and pastas contain twice the calories and three or four times the fat of their non-organic counterparts! |

I always thought nuts were diet food.People always recomended fruits, veg.whole grain, lean meat and nuts.then I started to read the fat content and wow.Turns out they are not a diet food at all.Im very glad that the label requirements are so strick today,I learned alot from reading lables.

The craziest gotcha for me was this diet book that focused on the high protein/low carb plan. It said if you were having trouble losing you could jump start your program by eating mostly high fat / protiein content food. So, I ate Pate', brie cheese, macadamia nuts, and all kinds of high fat foods. The result was I gained 5 pounds
It was then and there that I realized enough of the crazy diets. Slow and steady - eat less and exercise more - it's really quite a simple formula

Chicken Sandwiches
I went out to eat at a restaurant while I was out and about. I was looking at the menu and choose a chicken sandwich. Expecting a chicken sandwich to be better then a big juicy burger. There wasn't a picture on the menu and I was not thinking when I ordered. When it arrived it was fried. I am not one to send food back that I have ordered and so I stripped away the bun and decided to go ahead and eat as much as I could without the breading. The chicken in the middle was pretty bland so I gave up and ate about half of it with the breading. I got home and went to the nutritional information website for the restaurant to discover it was 1100 Calories and 70 grams of fat. I almost cried. I ordered it without the mayo and skipped the bun but I still figured it had to be about an 800 Calorie meal. *sigh* Sadly the Juicy burger I passed up was only 800 Calories 55 grams of fat INCLUDING the bun.

wow, this is a great topic. I am already learning so much from this thread. I never had a diet plan before. So to tell the truth, I don't even know about any GOTCHA's. and I am guessing I am not the only one. So I guess I will just lean back and enjoy the topic and hopefully I will learn some usefull info's.

tuna salad always seemed like a good choice but with the mayo and salt for seasoning it was quite scary
my alternative
cranberry tuna
small can of tuna
2 tb spoons of whole berry cranberry sauce (get the natural with no added sugar)
1/3 of a small onion chopped
3 tb spoons of light mayo
pepper for seasoning
i love it and eat it without any bread or crackers
:hint i try not to drain the tuna too much so that i dont need the extra mayo to keep it moist and not dry:
