I'm sorry to my fellow members for now keeping this group going more. I do vow to be more active on here and hope you are as well! Let's start out by sharing something about ourselves. Where are you in your life? What is stressing you out? Being young can sometimes be really stressful between going to school, trying to find the right career, having children, etc. Let's help each other work through it. So, please introduce yourself and let us know your story!

RE: Welcome, or welcome back
I'm at a place in life where I still am trying to dig my roots. I have my own business, and we're currently re-locating because the rent here at the current place is so high and it is very stressful, esp. with the recent downward turn of the economy. I provide products to interior deisgners, and design enthusiast alike, so you can imagine if home sales are low, people aren't decorating their new homes! In terms of living life.. I already feel like my (early) twenties were wasted due to my weight issue, it always prevented me from doing the things I wanted to do, like travel to exotic places, in fear that I would look ridiculous, people would stereotype me or I was so self-conscious that I would ruin the experience anyways. It's def. time to take control of this, so that I can start enjoying life in my thirties!

Yaaa! Good for you, Yenni! Here's a bit about me: I am at a point in my life where I'm trying to establish my career. I went to school for elementary education and once I graduated, it's like I was afraid to get a teaching job. A few years later, I feel like I'm getting closer. I work as a reading recovery teacher and am considered a title 1 aide so get paid pretty much squat, and because of that, I also work as a bank teller right now, but am hoping to land one of the classroom teaching openings that are coming up due to retirement in the area. I've been married for 2 and a half years and my husband is trying to start up a business. Money has been VERY tight, so that causes me LOTS of stress. I don't know what I would do if I had children right now!

Your hard work and dedication will pay off Sara. I think it's normal for all of us to stress like this. I too don't really know what I'd do if I were to have kids right now. I feel as though I'm still learning to take care of myself! lol

Hi all!! My name is Aysan. I'm new to diet.com and i'm in my early twenties. I just entered them. I'm planning to be a teacher when im done me studies. I just moved halfway across the world to study abroad and i miss my home and my girlfriends and my boyfriend very much. The reason why i kept on being bigger and bigger is that i'm an emotional eater; instead of crying or yelling in frustation I ate. And I'm putting an end to this. Now i go for a walk every time i feel any type of emotion. I'm switching my food addiction with an exercise addiction. Hope it works out for me in the long run. I just needed people who feel like me; who feel like their weight is controlling their life.

RE: Welcome, or welcome back
also new to diet.com as my profile indicates, i'm a non-traditionalist, so only now in my mid-twenties am i buckling down to finish university. this goes hand in hand with stress and emotional issues (returning home after living abroad with my boyfriend where it was ok to be curvier around the latin women in colombia, in the US only the slim seem to win). my main issue isn't poundage, it's more about toning and getting back in shape because 2 years ago i was struck with mono then the rare nerve disease guillaine barre which destroyed my previously rather exercise-friendly body. now i am starting from scratch and need to watch what i'm eating as the emotional roller coaster of my life has taken it's toll on my body shape. hope we can support one another in our quests for healthier lifestyles!

RE: Welcome, or welcome back
Hi. My name is Vicki. I am new to Diet.com and this is really the first time I have tried to lose weight and I intent for it to be my last. I am 22 years old and the mother of three amazing little boys, ages 4 yrs, 2 yrs, and 9 months. Before having any kids, I weighed about 110 lbs and now tip the scale at 207, after losing my first 3 lbs. :) Having my kids so young and so close together has done a number on my body to say the least. I also went through a nasty divorce which didn't help matters. I am now re-married and loving my life. I have never been a real confident person so that is a goal I hope to achieve as well as my goal weight of 116 lbs. I'm not a real social butterfly in person so I am looking for a place or people to communicate with on-line. To swap stories and motivate eachother. I do all my workouts at home and could use the encouragement.

Hey, I'm Aoife. I'm new, and a bit lost, and would love friends to help me out a bit. I'm motivated but have no idea where to start with dieting. I've hit a point where I'm sick of being overweight, and prepared to do whatever I need to..

Hello...I am new to this group. I am a 23 year old guy in central Florida and beach weather is around the corner. In past years I have kept my shirt on or not gone at all. But this year I want to shed lose last couple of pounds and be happy at the beach.

RE: Welcome, or welcome back
Hi there everyone! My name is Janie, and I'm a College student in Medford, Mass. Over the past year I have gained a significant amount of wait. I have come to the point in my life where I simply cannot tolerate being an over-weight young-adult.

I am extraordinarily tall for a woman (just under 6 feet) so I've always been taller and larger. But now, for the first time in my life, I am no longer going to let my height be an excuse for my being overweight and am finally making the decision to be more healthy. I hope this group can help in the process.

best of luck to all of you! I love reading your posts so keep posting!

Warmest Wishes, Janie

RE: Welcome, or welcome back
I'm Karolynn. I just turned 20 about 2 weeks ago. I was always the "chubby girl" in school, and it wasn't easy, as I'm sure most of you know. I have just recently gotten to the point in my life where I know that if I don't diet now, I never will, and it'll just get worse. My father has been overweight for almost his entire adult life, and it's brought him the obvious health problems. I don't want to end up his age and have the same problems, which is probably my biggest motivator. I've tried Atkins, WeightWatchers and SparkPeople.com, but they haven't worked for me. So I'm hoping diet.com will do the trick :)

RE: Welcome, or welcome back
Hello! I joined a few months back but never logged on till three days ago. I gained 40 pounds when I was pregnant with my daughter 4 years ago. I worked really hard to lose most of it, then I got comfortable and since then I have been steadily gaining. I now weigh 10 pounds more than what I gained being pregnant. I can't stand it any longer and I'm determined to lose weight. I do need motivation though as I have been discouraged some days. Good Luck Everyone!!!

RE: Welcome, or welcome back
I am new, I am 21. my stresses include being a full time student, not being able to find work, and wanting to start a family and be married finally but I am not prepared and my fiance is worse off than I am...he doesn't seem to be trying. I want to be healthy when I finally do have a kid and having kids is one of my worst fears because I feel like my heart is weak. Everyone I know with kids says maintaining weight after is a hassle so I figure if I maintain it now it won't be so hard later on. I am short and muscular even though I never really did any sort of sports and I always told myself that muscle weighs more than fat but I have recently realized it was just an excuse so I am on a journey to lose fat and tone up. It's hard because I have little support and I lack motivation which is why I joined this site. So hello all.
