Some Tips I Offer:
When you are feeling like you are failing or need some motivation, post here on diet.com, either in your blog, a forum, or even reading how other people's blogs can inspire you or you may learn something from them that may help you. If you want to let out feelings that you want to keep private, get a notebook and write it all out. Letting it out can help you realize that it may not be as bad as it seems or may help you map out a way to fix the problem.
Don't weigh yourself everday unless you are emotionally prepared for it. Your weight will go up and down, sometimes by more than you can imagine but it may just be water weight. If you weigh yourself everday, try to do it at the same time everday (I do mornings right when I wake up). Map out your readings on a chart or list, after a couple months you may start realizing patterns in your weight movemet. Also, you can take an average of your last 10 weigh-ins everday and mark that on different chart and if it tends to go down then you know you are succeeding.
After you ate the last meal of the day that you want to eat, try brushing your teeth. If you hate brushing your teeth as much as I do, then it may help you prevent from eating after so you don't have to brush again. haha
Don't drink pop! I know quite a few people who dropped 2-5 pounds (incl. me) just from taking pop out of their diet. Try to drink water instead.
Maybe plan a big reward trip after you reach your main goal, and maybe plan some other little non-food rewards for you monthly or even weekly goals. Like for example, you reach your 2 lbs weight loss goal for the end of the week, you reward yourself with new songs on your music player you work out with. You reach your month goal you reward yourself with a trip to the spa or maybe an item you've been wanting for awhile at the mall. You reach your main goal and reward yourself with a trip to a amusement park with friends wearing your new outfit you've always wanted to wear :) but mainly you are ultimately rewarded with a healthier you!
For exercising I always recommend leslie sansone's walk at home dvds. I like the 3 mile fast walk the best since it is only 45 minutes, gets you sweating, and its in the privacy of your home (and you don't need much room, I'm in an apartment so this is great). Her dvds are pretty cheap, $12 at walmart for the 3 mile + walk belt. I also use leg and ankle weights every now and then to keep it challenging. Also dancing to your favorite music in your room is also fun and can get a good sweat going :)
I hope I was able to offer a few good tips, I am not a fitness or dietary specialist, just things that help me that I picked up along the way. And remember, if you ever need help, this site is full of people who can offer pretty good advice. Just don't give up and keep going and you will succeed. Patience is the key!
Good luck :)
