I'm really struggling tonight. I actually feel good about my efforts on improving me diet and all. There is just so much stress in my life and all I do is think about it. I feel so depressed and tonight I kept feeling the urge to keep eating. How am I supposed to overcome these urges if I am so down all of the time? I feel bad for even posting this. I just don't have anyone else to talk to. I kept thinking tonight, who can I talk to and I started to cry cause I don't really have anyone...there I go again..I'm sorry.

RE: Emotional eating
If you can't talk to us, then to who do you want to talk :)?! Don't feel bad about posting this here!! That's what we are there for. We will always listen to you!!! Sometimes we don't have people "near" us, that we can talk things about, just because they don't share the same experiences. That's the great thing about the internet, you find people from all the world that may share your feelings and are the best people to talk to :).

I guess when it comes to emotional eating, I'm on the other side, because i tend to eat nothing at all when I'm sad or stressed out. But either side, I guess, needs to find a way how to deal with the situations other than with eating. I don't know why we think that food comforts us when we feel bad. It doesn't solve the situation and eventually even makes it worse because we feel bad for eating (or not eating at all). I guess we must find out what we have to do "instead" of that eating, in order to change it and get helped through the rough times. But as to how that could look like, I don't really have the key. Maybe somebody else has good ideas =/.

RE: Emotional eating
Dana I totally understand where you are. I moved to Seattle 4 years ago and since that time I have really not made any friends that I feel I could call and cry on their shoulder. It's sad because I left so many great people behind in Florida. The one friend I really kept in contact with passed away back in March so when I get to the point where I need someone to cry with I just don't have that person here. The lucky thing is I do have this site and I have a lot of friends online all around the world. I can log on my facebook and connect with someone even if they aren't close by.

You are a wonderful person. You need to find your peace. I would highly suggest grabbing a book about being happy. One that really helped me is "Succulent Wild Woman: Dancing with your Wonder*full self" the author's name is SARK. I spent a number of years in a pretty deep depression and her books really helped me pull myself out and made me realize how much I should stop and enjoy life even if life isn't perfect or what we imagined it would be there are good things all around us.

Please don't ever stop posting when you need encouragement. We are here for you. Leslie

Hey, we have all been there. Today I gained weight and ate for comfort, how sad is that. I came to this site to get some motivation. That's what I do. Also you can journal your feelings or call someone just to say hi.

RE: Emotional eating
YOU HAVE US!!! And you are not alone. I get discouraged often about how FAR I have to go to get to a healthy weight for myself. I think you did the right thing by coming here and posting your frustrations. Whatever you do today does not determine how your day will go tomorrow. So pick yourself back up, sweep yourself off, and make tomorrow a better day...even if it's only by 1 calorie!!! You can do it, and if you are falling we will be here to hold you up til you can stand on your own!!!
