The average stride of a person is 2.5 feet and so 10000 steps equals approximately 5 miles.
Most inactive people take between 1000-3000 steps per day, so it is a significant increase.
The suggested way to get to 10000 steps a day is by increasing you daily goal by 500 steps per day until you reach 10000.
You should wear a pedometer everyday.
You can track in a notebook or on diet.com, or even some pedometers have software and you can download your daily steps to the computer.
So lets get going on our 10000 steps. I know some of you are already big walkers like me, maybe we can start posting our weekly mileage here. I am a slacker lately so this will keep me on track.
