Hi all, I saw this group and got excited. I've been trying to meet a daily goal of at least 10000 steps and have been tracking on my computer. My steps have been a bit sub 10k lately but I love the accountability of a group :D

Do you want to know how many miles it is or just what is 10,000 steps. It is the number of steps that you have to walk in a day to lose weight.

Well, so far I'm not doing as great as I would have liked, but I am significantly improved (four days over 10,000 in the last two weeks, as opposed to once every three months!). Various excuses like bad shoes (have always gotten super cheap shoes in the past) that I am fixing (good shoes are expensive!!!). Had one day in particular that I was wearing a pair of shoes I thought would be fine, but my shins were killing me after two blocks. But the footwear issues are being taken care of, so I can push myself harder now.

Plus, since I have been writing down my step count before bed, I just picked up a really pretty journal, long and thin for better listing, to keep track.

That's a good idea, I bought a pretty journal a couple of weeks ago to keep track of my exercise. I know what you mean about good shoes it can make a world of difference. I don't want to walk far either in shoes that hurt!! Sounds like your on your way to a million steps woohoo!

I'm finding it's not so easy to get the steps in during the weekend. At least I'm doing really good during the weekdays!

But you are doing better than I did yesterday (Sunday). I was super lazy and doing good to get above 1,000!

I made my steps all week, some days I just made it, and a few I went over a bit. Found out that grocery shopping was 3 miles in itself!!!!

You can do it for sure. I never realized how many steps I took per day untill I started wearing the pedometer each day. Hang in there you will get it in no time

I wore a pedometer for 2 days and realized that I don't take nearly as many steps as I thought. I really thought I was getting at least the 10,000, but I was lucky to get 7,000! I am working on getting the steps up, but I don't know how well I can manage that right now.

I wore my bodybugg (which counts steps!) and over last weekend, I walked 70,200 steps. That was Friday, Saturday and Sunday. LOL I was out of town and doing a half marathon too. I guess I was good for the whole week! LOL

Wow steffy, that is a huge amount of steps for the week. I wore my pedometer only part of the time, I kept forgetting to put it on, I am nowhere near 70000 in 3 days I am sure.

I hurt too when I started, it goes away once you get used to it. I sometimes still have pain when I walk in the heat.

My legs are always sore, stretching can help with this somewhat. And a hot bath to soak them. Luckily my feet don't hurt, make sure you have a good pair of walking sneakers this can make a big difference.

All is going great working out daily now and longer than when I first started. feet and legs are better. I have plantersfaschitis in my left foot but it hasnt been acting up lately thank god....

I am sorry that you are hurting, I know how difficult that can be. I too hurt when I am walking and it is very difficult for me to get out there and do it. I thought I had a groing injury, but after treatments have realized it is probably something else. I hope that you are able to work through the pain, but not to the point of hurting yourself more. Good luck!!
