Found a healthy and delicious dessert and wanted to share! Well, I should say healthier than the original recipe that will leave you with extra calories to sweat off at the gym. (NOTE - Please do not mistake these as "healthy" - but just better for you than the original recipe.)

The guilt-full recipe:
blonde brownies
2/3 cup margarine, melted
2 cups brown sugar (packed)
2 large eggs
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 cup chocolate chips
1 cup chopped pecans (optional)

The guilt-less recipe:

1/3 cup of butter, melted (take out those trans-fats by using butter!)
2 cups brown sugar (packed)
4 large egg whites
2 cups of flour - 1 cup of regular, 1 cup whole wheat flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons vanilla
2/3 cup of chocolate chips
1/2 cup of pecans (if you can't live without them)

Sift flour, brown sugar, soda and salt together. Add nuts to dry ingredients. Melt butter and add sugar and 1 teaspoon hot water. Mix in egg whites and vanilla. Then combine the flour mixture into the wet mixture, a small amount at a time, mixing well. Spread in a 9 x 9 x 2 pan which has been greased. Sprinkle chocolate chips over the top.

Bake at 325 degrees for 20 minutes.
