Imagine if you could achieve your body's optimal fitness, without ever stepping foot inside a loud, over-crowded, expensive gym.

Such is the future as Brad Schoenfeld sees it, Diet.com expert blogger, fitness expert and author of the new book Women's Home Workout Bible (Human Kinetics, November 2009). In Women's Home Workout Bible, Brad strives to show you how you can create your own personalized training program, and then follow through with that program right in your own home. The best part? This book outlines a program for any budget!

If you're one of the millions of gym-goers that's spending too much money for your fitness club membership and displeased with your experience, Women's Home Workout Bible is going to be your go-to guide for a total home training program.

Why should you consider a home gym? Well there are no hidden fees or contracts, to start. Nor will there ever be a need to "freeze" your membership or negotiate fines for cancelled memberships. And with around 40% of gym members canceling their membership within 12 months, according to one study*, that's a lot of cancellation fees! (*Club Business International, Fall 2006)

You can achieve your fitness goals at home, and you can do it yourself... with a little guidance from Brad and Women's Home Workout Bible. "To do things right, " Brad says, "you need a plan of action."

You'll begin by creating, or "claiming", your workout space within your home. Decide how much space you are willing to devote to this area. Ask yourself if it will still allow for "flow" in the room, and whether or not the space is the appropriate temperature or has proper ventilation.

Next, you'll use Brad's guide to purchasing equipment. Here he outlines 4 categories, with different levels of equipment for different budgets: $100, $500, $1000 and $2500+.

Finally, you'll devise your own exercise strategies and routines, customizing them for your own target areas and goals.

In the meantime, check out Brad's top 5 essential fitness items to invest in if you're on a budget:

1. Floor exercise mat.
2. Stability ball.
3. Chinning bar.
4. Leg weights.
5. Set of strength bands.

@ 3:25pm ET on November 2, 2009 I believe it would be awesome to receive Women's Home Workout Bible. I have been on limbo about joining a gym, but the sign up fees and monthly dues aren't in my budget at this time. I perfer to workout at home and love the idea of working out at home without driving across town or paying the gym fee each month. I also need a plan (something I'm not too great at on my own)to work out at home and Women's Home Workout Bible would be perfect!! Thanks Diet.com!
@ 5:59pm ET on November 2, 2009 I paid for gym memberships for years without much success. I brought an elliptial machine earlier this year and have lost close to 35 pounds sine then. I'm looking for new ideas to incorporate into my routine to drop 45 more pounds. I'm a believer in working out at home but a little lost. The Women's Home Workout Bible could be the key to my success.
@ 6:45pm ET on November 2, 2009 hi, i am cecilia from peru in my country the perfect idea to workout is doing a lot of boring cardio so i decide to change this fakes ideas, i need to improve other techniques to maximize my routine, i think the women s home workout bible is the best solution for my becomming new life
@ 8:32pm ET on November 2, 2009 Hey All! My name is Megan, and I weigh 285 pounds and I'm 22 years old. I study Early Childhood education in college, and I run a home child care center for children 2 and under. I have a couple of medical problems due to my obesity and have been at a loss to curb it since my teenage years. As a childcare provider I am on my feet, and down on the floor. Doing this is very difficult for me due to my weight. I do not believe in diet pills, and with our income there is no way that we can afford a gym membership in our area for as little time as I could pull away and go there. Doing a routine at home is a great way to get started, and I need help knowing what to get since money is very tight and the need to get healthy is dire. The Women's Home Workout Bible I believe will help me fulfill this need in my life and give me the successful push to complete my goals!
@ 11:00am ET on November 3, 2009 I have paid for a gym membership in the past, and at first felt good about my investment, but as "life" got in the way and I wasn't able to go as much as I wanted, I felt like I was throwing money down the tubes! Especially with the cold months looming, the last thing I want to do is put on exercise clothes and go workout somewhere, get all sweaty, then have to change into warm clothes just to leave the gym! This time of year is the worst for me to stay motivated and exercise. For these reasons, I have been working out at home, but don't exactly know how to go about it. I have a treadmill that I do a couple of times a week, but that gets boring. I use workout DVDs in between, but sometimes I don't think they quite do enough. I own a stability ball, exercise mat, and leg weights already, and would LOVE to know how to use them effectively! I think this book could be just what I need to get the results I seek! I would love to be considered to win this prize! Thanks! ~Sara :o)
