I ended July with an action packed weekend in New York City studying bellydance with Oreet, the creator of SharQui - The Bellydance Workout®. I am always intrigued about new ways that I can move my body, and this method was unlike anything I'd done before! What is different about SharQui is that it is an intelligent blend of fitness and bellydance technique. The SharQui bellydance method required me to work out my muscles with new movement patterns, and I was amazed with the results! This workout targets the thighs, hips, and abdominals. There is also upper body work, because you hold up your arms for long periods of time. Wow!
Hip Bumps, Shoulder Shimmies, and Chest Circles were just a few of the moves I learned while studying in New York City. My favorite move of all is Pretty Stance (see picture below!). So much control is needed in order to execute each movement. The hardest part for me was letting go, mentally. I was so focused on the details of each movement that I got distracted from all of the fun I should be having. I have this problem often in life!
For me it was about finding a balance, and not spending too much time analyzing everything. I just had to let my body move to the music, and know that everything would fall into place.
