It's Cinco de Mayo... let the celebration begin!
Mexican restaurants will be bustling through Monday in celebration of Cinco de Mayo.
Contrary to what most people think, Cinco de Mayo is not Mexican Independence Day (that's actually September 16). Rather, it is a holiday that commemorates the victory of Mexico over French armies in the Battle of Puebla in 1862. It is most widely celebrated in part of Mexico and the U.S. where there is a larger Mexican population.
One thing is for sure, we all love to partake in delicious Mexican food and imbibe in frosty margaritas. For many of us, this is an excuse to indulge â€" but such indulgence can take a toll on our weight loss efforts, especially if the celebration continues through the weekend!
