Have a well drafted grocery list. Don't wander down the aisles aimlessly grabbing whatever you think you will need. Prior to going to the store, make a list of what you need to reach your health and fitness goals. Do not buy things you know you will not eat, rather try finding healthy recipes you like. Taking this extra step will lead you down the road to good nutrition!
Avoid the freezer section. Most things you find there are loaded with preservatives.
NEVER go to the store hungry. You will overspend and most importantly buy things you don't want and don't need! I don't care how strong your willpower is, you will just setting yourself up for self-sabotage if you do this so make sure to snack before you shop!
Designate one day a week as your shopping and food preparation day. By developing this ritual, you become more organized and disciplined. I like to do my grocery shopping on Sunday evenings- I feel like I have the whole store to myself!
Implement a Shopping Strategy. Shop the perimeters of the store first to get the essentials before going down the center aisles. The foods with the most nutrition will be found in the perimeters of the store including the produce section!
Know what to Buy. Here are some of my favorite "Fit Foods" that every woman should have in her kitchen and can be prepared in so many fun and healthy ways with just a few ingredients:
95% Lean Ground Beef
Large Jumbo Shrimp
Low fat yogurt
Low fat shredded cheese
Plain Quaker Oatmeal
