The foods you eat can help treat, manage and even cure common health problems, according to registered dietitian, Joy Bauer, author of a book on food cures. Illness-fighting foods can be a great complement to traditional medical treatments, say experts.

I like expanding the focus of food away from calories to the power that foods can have to boost your immunity, help you sleep better, feel calmer and keep your energy level high.
We all know how if you skip a meal, you may start to feel jittery and lose focus on a project. Or if you eat a really big lunch one day, the only thing you feel like doing afterward is taking a nap. It's not only what you eat that can affect your mood and health; how you eat and how much you eat is also important.
Everyone has heard the message to eat more fruits and vegetables but fewer are aware of the latest research being done on how eating a colorful variety of produce will give you the most health benefits.
The next time you go grocery shopping, pack your cart with a rainbow of colorful produce as a way to boost your immunity, lower your risks of heart disease and some cancers and protect yourself against the effects of aging.
-- Choose yellow/orange produce found in cantaloupe, grapefruit, lemons, mangoes, peaches, apricots and yellow peppers
-- Choose blue/purple produce found in blueberries, blackberries, plums, purple cabbage, and eggplant
-- Choose green produce found in spinach, green apples, avocados, broccoli, cucumbers, green cabbage, arugula, green peppers, zucchini and kiwi
-- Choose red produce found in red apples, cherries, raspberries, strawberries, watermelon, red grapefruit, beets, red peppers and tomatoes
