Many celebrities are fans of detox diets like Gweneth Paltrow. She recently told Goop.com that "I like to do fasts and detoxes a couple of times during the year, the most hardcore one being the Master Cleanse I did last spring. It was not what you would characterize as pretty. Or easy."
If you resolved to lose weight this year, welcome to the first day of the rest of your life. If you are going to succeed you must commit to a program that is sustainable for the rest of your life. Does a detox diet sound plausible? No but they are safe to do once in awhile. Although they are not medically necessary (doctors claim your body can do this on it's own), many people still love to do it and swear by it's energy boosting effects.
Paltrow admits, "As I do not wish to subsist on lemon water in the middle of winter, I asked my doctor, a detox diet specialist, for the guidelines he uses to achieve a good detox that is not as hallucinogenic (in a bad way) as the Master Cleanse. What it came down to was this: you can detox easily and effectively while you continue to eat as long as you are cutting out the foods and other substances that interfere with the detoxification process."
If you can learn to live a healthy lifestyle the rest should all just fall into place.
Eating well and exercising will come naturally but it can be difficult to get to this point of euphoria. Detoxing can help. I'm not talking about the master cleanse diet, or even the eat clean diet, but rather simple detoxifying yoga moves.
A few simple yoga moves can really open up your body and prepare itself for a body overhaul. Get rid of the toxins and unhealthy chemicals you've been feeding yourself all these years and start fresh. But just who needs to detox? Do you need to detox with diet or do you need to detox with yoga and other forms of exercise?
FYI: Gweneth cuts out dairy, grains with gluten, meat, shellfish, anything processed (including all soy products), fatty nuts, nightshades (potatoes, tomatoes, peppers and eggplant), condiments, sugar and obviously no alcohol, caffeine or soda. She does however eat salads, fruit smoothies, chicken, soups and lots of water.
