Getting your subconscious and conscious mind to align and move in the same direction is dependant on what you are programmed to look for. The Reticulating Activating System (RAS) is the part of your mind that continuously scans and screens information. It is determining what needs to be brought to your awareness
This all happens subconsciously but once it picks up on what you should be paying attention to, it alerts your conscious mind.
You may not be familiar with the term RAS, but you are familiar with how it serves you. Let's use cars for our example. Years ago I went to buy a car. I knew what I wanted - a green Saturn with some extras that included a sun roof and spoiler on the back. I am really dating myself with this story, but it proves a point, so stick with me. My car dealer found everything I wanted except the spoiler. He said there wasn't one on any of their lots. I bought the one he had and loved my car. But every single day I saw a green Saturn with a sun roof AND a spoiler on the road in my travels. I still notice them to this day. If there is one anywhere near me, my RAS will seek it and point it out.
That is what the RAS does. It seeks and points it out without hesitation. Why is this so important? Because what you are telling yourself is directing your RAS to prove you right.
So my friend, what is your green Saturn? What you looking for? Now that I have pointed it out, you will begin to see what your RAS is scanning for.
So what the RAS focuses on is driven by your values. I hope you have filled out your personal inventory and charted your results, because this where is where you want the RAS to guide you.
What is important to you on the list and how did you score? Living a life based on your values means designing a life that makes your top five values a priority. The RAS will then scan to finds ways for you to accomplish this.
