A gym in Vancouver, British Columbia has taken an extra step to ensure that its clientele feels comfortable - they've banned thin people from their gym, in favor of a strictly plus-size gym community.

In an effort to make the fitness center more appealing and less intimidating to larger potential gym-goers, Body Exchange will only accept overweight clients.
As Body Exchange founder and CEO Louise Green told TheProvince.com:
"Many of our clients have not had successful fitness pasts so I can see the anxiety before we get started and I can see the relief and happiness after we finish," she said. "People are often too fearful to become active. There wasn't a model that offered camaraderie. I used to walk into fitness classes where nobody would even say 'Hi.' This has got to be fun or it's not going to work."
Does banning skinny people from using a gym foster a safe and supportive community, or does it wrongly paint all skinny people as being rude or unfriendly?
