ok. so.. recently. Monday to be exact I ate a mango. A fresh one. Monday night my lips felt dry so I used some new chapstick. Tuesday my lips hurt a little more.. but I ate more mango for breakfast not really thinking about a connection. Wednesday my mouth broke out in a full out allergic rash.

Turns out, the peal of a mango carries the same chemical as poivy ivy. Which I happen to be allergic to. My lips were huge, swollen and itchy. Well as the week went on the rash went into my mouth. Today it hit its worst. I had to leave work early. And My face and the rest of me feels sooo itchy. Nothing really helps it, and they have no cure. My stomach also hurts, so I think I must have some mango still in my system.

So... be careful of mango! Seriously this has been the most painful allergic reaction ever. And I'm suppose to go on vacation in 4 days! So I am praying it goes away.

Also.. its really hard to eat. So I've drinking a lot of water, but my weight loss might be off this week. Which I dont really care about right now. Cuz my face feels like its on fire! :(

@ 7:19pm ET on November 8, 2009 OMG! I hope it goes away soon. I feel so bad for you.I went to the health market today and I brought dried mango, dried banana chips and dried kiwi, so maybe you can still have mango but try it dried and unsweetened. Let me know how things turn out.I know its one of those things that goes away on its own.I dont know of any remedies to tell you, but thats good you're drinking water.Wish you well!
@ 9:47pm ET on November 8, 2009 Thanks! I dont think I'll be trying Mango in any way shape or form. I am highly allergic. Its been a week now and I am still recovering.. :(
@ 11:15pm ET on November 8, 2009 Wow! I've always pealed mangos but that is good to know...
@ 12:25am ET on November 9, 2009 I didnt eat the peal. But I touched the peal. That was enough to cause a reaction. Plus I think I am also allergic to the fruit.. havnt felt right since I ate it.
@ 3:19pm ET on November 9, 2009 Wow, that's crazy! I had no idea about that. My face is sensitive to things, but it's usually my eyelides that break out and itch like crazy. It's no fun! Hope you feel better soon! ~Sara :o)
