You must eat to lose weight. Let me repeat: you must eat to lose weight. Your metabolism will not like you if you skip meals and then eat tons at others to make up for the lost food. You should be eating 4-6 times a day to keep your metabolism high. Just eat small meals, ~300-400 calories each and have a couple of snacks, about 200 calories each. That should put your body in a great position to lose weight.

You have to eat throughout the day. It's that simple. Don't skip meals. That's just a recipe for disaster. Have you even looked at Dr. Diet's diet?

Why does everyone want to be thinner when they are already a healthy weight?

There are very supportive people here who go out of their way to help people by giving wonderful advice and it turns out that you aren't even overweight!

There isn't anything we can do to help you.

What on earth is wrong with a little bit of muscle? A little bit of exercise is not going to turn you into the Incredible Hulk, you know. What is it that Backer says? You'd have an easier time walking past a university every day and accidentally getting a PhD? Yeah, that guy's got some good stuff to say.

Really, for any woman who's worried about having big muscles, it takes a concerted effort to build bulk, especially for women, because we don't have the same androgen levels as men. Even most guys have to work really hard to get bulky. Muscle is useful stuff, though.

I mean, god forbid that you should be able to take the lid off a jar by yourself...

Sorry. I just get really fed up with the attitude that girls shouldn't be strong, that the desirable figure is a waif-thin twig. I'm really disturbed by a culture that imposes an image of helplessness and fragility as the feminine ideal.

As for lunch, eat it. Really, it's that basic. As someone who survived an eating disorder, it makes me want to beat my head against my monitor to hear young women talking about starving themselves into nothingness. You are worth more than that!

In these days, a man who says a thing cannot be done is quite apt to be interrupted by some idiot doing it.

No i don't think you would lose any weight. The key is to eat all three meals a day with healthy snacks. You have to eat in moderation. So don't over eat. I found that skipping meals actually helped me to gain weight...sounds crazy right. Find a meal plan that works for you. Try not to go off of what other people do or don't do.Hope this helps. I wish you all the best.

It's important that you focus on you and not on what your friends do and don't do. Your friend is a different person with a different body and a different metabolism. What she does has nothing to do with what you need to do.

Plus, it is quite possible that your friend does actually eat more regularly than that and you just don't know. When I was younger (and in great shape) I didn't want anyone to see me eat so I would sneak things at different times so I could seem like I didn't eat as much.

Every bit of research and every expert out there says that skipping meals is not the way to weight loss. What it is is a way to undermine the natural desire of your body to be at its healthy weight. Your body is a machine and it needs fuel to run. If you teach it that it won't have fuel when it needs it, it will not work for you when you need it.

The thing about skipping lunch is a little complex to get at first, yet simple. "Why?" you ask? Well to put it as simple as possible, when you skip lunch, your body thinks it needs food due to it's routine of getting that noon food. So when dinner comes along, your body takes in more fat from the food then normally, you may eat more than you normaly would, and you'll have less energy during acctivities because fat burns much slower then the nutrients in healthy food. So with that said, DON'T SKIP LUNCH, PEOPLE! YOU WILL GET FAT! I hope that's helpful to whom ever this reply is read by.

You should read this winterwhisperer:

http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=124849411

I posted this in another thread:
"I know this may be a bit harsh but weight is complete phooey. The best measurement of health is: 1)fitness and 2) bodyfat percentage (sure, you could add physical age vs chronological age and internal health such as risk for atherosclerosis but I think that's too much).

I never put much stock into weight except when I calculate how many calories and grams of protein I need to consume(which I got into recently). I only use it to gauge whether or not a new change I've made in my regimen has resulted in what I predicted it would.

Weight doesn't always signify health either. Someone could eat utter crap and somehow manage to stay super thin(like my cousin) but I think he has a Vitamin D deficiency due to lack of sunlight.

If you want to fit into Jeans again, lower your BF% through caloric deficit(exercise eating same quantity but healthier foods).

Not the easiest but is it worth it? absolutely."

I second whoever said thin is bad. It's really not. You're at a higher risk to suffer fractures after menopause due to light mechanical load on bone. Plus you don't exercise. Come menopause, poof, a decade later you could suffer an injury easily

hi
skipping a meal is bad because your friend eat the first thing at lunchtime so her metablosime doedn't work until then. and you can only lose weight when your metabolisme works perfect.
it better to eat a small thing for breackfast and luch you can also have a little but healthy snack.
so i don't think it's a good idea, yes you will lose weight but the first time you eat more then a small lunch and a normal dinner you put on weight.

good luck with loosing weight !

DONT SKIP MEALS!!!

if you want to lose weight, i would suggest a couple of things.
first, eat small meals throughout the day and document what you eat. find a caloric intake for the day and counting your calories for the day helps you realize how much you're eating.
skipping meals will cause your metabolism to slow, so dont skip.
also try to stick to a low glycemic diet, which will cause your body to burn fat all day.
and WORK OUT!! exercise raises your metabolism, which means you will burn more calories. if you do cardio and lift weights you wont bulk up.
hope this helps!
