I've noticed that if you try to enter a food with a per cent symbol in it - like 2% milk or 85% cocoa - the % sign throws the meal tracker into a fugue state: it will not resolve and record the entry.
is this a bug, or a feature? : )
and will it be addressed in the new tracker?

Thank you for reporting this issue! Yes, the new meal tracker will be a complete and total overhaul, and I hope you're as excited as I am about it!
