Her Favorite Type of Exercise: “I have always enjoyed running, but do to an injury about 5 years ago, I was always advised not to run by my health care providers. I have been doing some interval training jogging recently and it really allows me to connect with myself and the outdoors, as well as learn how mentally strong I am. My newest favorite (and best for my injury) exercise has been pilates. Pilates allows me to strengthen my core and balance myself. I love feeling like my core (tummy, especially!) has been worked out. I feel VERY strong physically during these exercises and I feel as though I can challenge myself with them. Pilates is a great exercise for everyone to do it.”
Her Diet Tips: “BELIEVE IN YOURSELF!!! I believe that watching your calorie intake and having your FAVORITE foods in moderation is good. I don't believe fad diets work. They are a quick, and never-lasting, fix. We live in the real world, not a diet bubble. We have to gain a mentally healthy attitude that allows us to make good food choices that last. In addition, we have to stay moving! Take baby steps. Don't jump cold turkey into trying to create a new way of living. Simple improvements (parking the car further away, taking the stairs, adding fruit and veggies into your meals, etc) really add up and help us gain confidence in our competence in creating and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. We can do this. This is a journey, it doesn't happen overnight.”
What Keeps Her Motivated: “I am motivated by the confidence I have begun to gain in myself. I am also motivated by my friends here on diet.com. I'm not married and I don't have kids yet, but I do want to be able to set positive, healthy examples for my family. I grew up in a family where those examples were not set. I see my sister (now 1 learning from my examples, as well. I just want to be a positive role model.”
Her key to success, and how Diet.com has helped her: “Honestly, the key to success (at least for me) has been having such a strong community on diet.com to share my struggles and successes with. Without this community, I don't feel like I would have been as successful as I am. I think about this community throughout my day. I also believe another important key to success for losing weight, gaining strength, and becoming an overall healthy individual is keeping your chin up. There are going to be days that are not the best...so what! You need to get back on the horse and keep going. Have faith in yourself. It's something you can learn throughout this journey.”
How She Motivates Us: She’s been setting goals and not only MEETING them, but surpassing them!! She has dedicated herself to herself and has been exercising diligently to achieve her goals. And Kristi’s been hungry lately – for HEALTHY foods! What a success!
Inspiring Post: “I've really noticed…that my cravings are SO changing. I want eggs, salads, CELERY, blackberries, smoothies, string cheese, and the like so much more than other things. That's NOT to say that I don't ever want anything else, but the food cravings are much different.”
