Celebrity and Diet: Kirstie Alley

Kirstie Alley's Mission: Make Fat America Fit!

THE ALLEY DIET… By now you've heard Kirstie Alley will no longer be working for Jenny Craig. She is however looking to create her own diet program! Hopefully by now, you have all seen my YouTube video, "Sarah Fights Back." If not, click here. By the way I love reading people's comments on my videos, regardless if they bash my body or praise my resilience. Kirstie wrote to People.com on her new venture and here are my favorite points:

The weight-loss field is wide open and not immune to new ideas and improved solutions for the fat problems that plague many of us Americans every day. I want to create something new that will help millions of people end the seemingly never ending fatty-roller coaster ride. I am especially passionate about seeing to it that our next generations are not struggling with the same weight issues that my generation has struggled with.

There was a time when America was not fat, and that was in our not-so-distant past. I'm confident that I can create something exciting and innovative: something that if all goes well, will help change a fat America back into a fit America and will offer this country the healthiest, yummiest, easiest and most effective weight-loss program on the market.
[People.com]

Really? Seriously? You're going to do that? My first problem with this is that I am probably more qualified than Alley to tell people how to lose weight. Is she a dietitian? Did she even go to college? I wasn't aware that there were any diets out there to be categorized as innovative or exciting. But then again, I think I'm a pretty creative person. I'm going to create my own weight-loss program. Then I'm going to go on tour around America to make sure they do it so that I can CHANGE America and its fat ways. If Kirstie Alley can, so can I! And that people, is my American dream!

NO HASSLE! We knew it wouldn't be long before another celebrity was gushing about how they lost their baby weight, and sure enough as luck would have it, we bring you Elisabeth Hasselbeck. While appearing at J.C. Penney's launch of the American Living clothing line, the View co-host showed no signs of giving birth just three months ago. However unlike some of the other lucky celebs, Hasselbeck works hard for her body. "I've been working out like a crazy women!" she admitted. "Lots of hard work. I'm trying." She adds that exercise is something she always looks forward to. "That's my vacation," she explained. "Are you kidding? That's the only time I get to myself. [My personal trainer] is like, you get to run six miles today. And I'm like, thank you!" [People.com]

Celebrity Diet

Star Health secrets according to People Magazine. People is better known for it’s gossip and celebrity exploits rather than diet tips but here is a sample of what they believe is going to help stars stay looking great in ’08.

They recommend focusing on one new healthy habit each day. Here is a list:

Fergie- Adds Vinegar. Swallows 2 tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar after lunch and dinner.

Ryan Seacrest – Used to be fat! Relies on protein from fish. Eats a big plate of raw fish before live shows of AI.

Eva Longoria – Drink More Water. Takes in 3 liters a day! Drink half your body weight in ounces. So how much does that mean she weighs? Well it means she weighs 200 lbs. I think she drinks her ACTUAL body weight in ounces.

Katherine Heigl – Eat mini meals. She is apparently on the 5 factor diet or at least she is paid to be and eats 5 high protein meals.

Kelly Ozborne – Ban booze. I mean ban booze? Say what? She did? "I stopped doing drugs and drinking," the actress told PEOPLE. "The weight literally dropped off." The reason? "Drinking alcohol is like eating sugar with a spoon," says Pachella. If you can't completely ban booze, indulge in one glass of red wine or a lower-calorie cocktail such as rum-and-Diet Coke.

Alicia Silverstone – Go Veggie! Eat more vegetables. They fill you up because they contain fiber and an added bonus is they provide antioxidants.

Gweneth Paltrow – Drink Green Tea. Do it instead of snacking, increase water intake as well as antioxidants. If you don’t like green, go ahead and try white.

Kirstie Alley – Snack Sugar Free. Not sure about this one, I’ve heard sugar free may make you more hungry. However it does work great for mindless munching like jell-o with cool whip or sugar free popcicles. If your in the mood to just eat and not think about calories, sugar free aint a bad way to go, but be careful because too much will cause gas and bloating.

Jennifer Aniston – Try budukon, it’s a combination of martial arts, yoga, and meditation.

Alicia Keys – Refresh at the spa. Yeah, wouldn’t we all love to just be able to do this? Well, if you can go whenever you need a little time to de-stress then good for you!

Celebrities are Real Dieters?

The media has been pretty obsessed with Kirstie Alley for the past few years. As a Jenny Craig spokeswoman, the "Fat Actress" has lost weight....

and gained weight...

and lost...

Imagine if every pound you gained or lost, someone was ready to include it in a "Before and After" segment?

Jeez!

She was successful with Jenny Craig because she planned out 1400 calorie-a-day meal plans. Here's a sample day:

Breakfast: Apricot Crumble Bar
Snack: 1 apple and 1 kiwi
Lunch: Broccoli and Cheese Potato
Snack: Sweet Chilli and Lime Sticks
Dinner: Honey Mustard Lamb
Snack: Fruit Muesli Cookie

Sources say she's lost between 55 and 75lbs.

Kirstie has blamed her weight gain on really personal isssues, from Scientology to her miscarriage. She has gone through countless interviews about her weight situation, and the more I read, the more I realize that's she a real dieter. She gains & loses just like everyone else and has been smart enough to market it.
