People Magazine Gives Beauty an Honest Defintion
There’s pretty, there’s hot, and then there’s beautiful. How do you define each?
People Magazine recently came out with their famous “100 Most Beautiful People” issue, taking a refreshingly real approach to beauty. This year’s issue takes more than just physical appearance into account. While all the winners are undeniably attractive (kind of a Hollywood protocol), the magazine puts a huge stress on inner beauty and being natural.
People crowned Drew Barrymore the World’s Most Beautiful Person, and rightfully so. It’s nice to see a star who isn’t a sex symbol earn this title. Most don’t think of Drew Barrymore when thinking of the most attractive celebrities, but when you think beautiful, Drew Barrymore fits the bill perfectly. She’s been through her ups and down in her life, but has finally found herself, and her natural beauty shines through more than ever.

When asked about beauty rules for dating, she doesn’t talk about clothes or make-up. Her definition of beauty is honesty and truth, and she says the most important thing is, “to just be yourself” and “let your freak-flag fly, and if someone doesn’t get you, move on.”
While the usual royal heart-throbs such as Brad, Angelina, Leonardo, Scarlett, etc. made the pages as well, the true crown goes to the humble and natural Drew.
Drew and ten other celebs, including Katharine McPhee, Rhianna, and Rosario Dawson proved that beauty comes from loving your natural self by taking their make-up off for the camera. Their confidence in exposing their untouched faces reflects an honesty that makes them beautiful.
Thank you, People, for making beauty about more than appearance. Thank you for showing the beauty that radiates from honesty and self-acceptance.
